Join us, VIRTUALLY of course, as we celebrate Kwanzaa!
Make plans to join us for a virtual week long celebration of Kwanzaa presented by BlankspaceMke. We aim to curate a safe opportunity for families to gather - virtually - to bring recognition and awareness of the Kwanzaa celebration. This interactive experience will hone in on the beauty and necessity for "community". This experience will teach and elaborate on the culture of Kwanzaa and also shedding light on the history of black culture. All are welcomed to attend this free event.
Observed from December 26th to January 1st, Kwanzaa is derived from the Swahili phrase, mutunda ya kwanza, or "first fruits of the harvest." Our nightly Kwanzaa celebrations will be focused on giving respect and gratitude to ancestors. We will be sure to incorporate traditional African drumming music, candle light rituals, brief history lessons, and family engagement. For more information and to register - please email us at [email protected]
This is an open call for artists, performers, speakers to participate.
