8th annual MILWAUKEE Black Restaurant Week 2023
We are excited to once again celebrate the entrepreneurship of our locally owned eateries and want to direct patrons to restaurants that they can support. Last year many of our participating restaurants realized significant sales increase, a surge in media attention and a boost of new customers. This was accomplished at no cost to the restaurant owner.

BlankSpaceMKE is an urban art cooperative with a very basic principle of spreading the message about cooperative economics – build people to build unity to build wealth to build power!
Milwaukee Black Restaurant Week becomes an opportunity for us to demonstrate the power of cash mobs when strategically aimed at supporting minority owned businesses – specifically in this week – restaurants. We believe that by supporting Black Restaurants (and other local businesses) we can make a significant impact on strengthening communities and creating new opportunities for future entrepreneurs.
Though the title suggests a mere week of great eating, the platform will allow black owned restaurants the opportunity to bring in new customers and raise awareness about social entrepreneurship. Milwaukee and surrounding area communities will be encouraged to support businesses and get to know the owners who manage the establishments.
Though its title suggests a mere week of great eating, community members have decided to showcase African American entrepreneurship and promote local businesses by hosting the first MKE Black-Owned Restaurant Week.
MKE Black-Owned Restaurant Week is an opportunity for Black-Owned restaurants to bring in new customers and raise awareness. It allows Milwaukee to support minority owned eateries.
Cities across the country often host an annual restaurant week or dining week during which a number of local establishments will offer dining deals to bring in new customers and raise awareness about local businesses. Since 1992, the original Restaurant Week has introduced millions of foodies to new and exciting eateries and become an international institution. Why not bring this same movement to the Black community?
Black Americans are just 13 percent of the U.S. population but will have a buying power of $1.4 trillion by 2019. Because we know that not enough of the money is "flowing back into" black communities – MKE Black Restaurant Week is a method to introduce "foodies to new and exciting eateries" in the black community.
We believe supporting Black restaurants play a crucial role in achieving socio-economic upliftment, and the sustainable implementation of these beliefs will strengthen our communities and open opportunities for future generations. Through supporting African American businesses you're supporting small businesses. You're giving back to the community and bringing some social, economic uplift to the community.
No coupons are needed and each restaurant will have their own specials. It's simply a great opportunity to get out and eat some place where you've never eaten before.
