My name is Bridget Robinson (my writing alter ego pens herself as Queen B).
I am proud to say that I was born and raised in Milwaukee. I am a product of Milwaukee Public Schools where I first began to see words as art. In middle school I began to understand how very therapeutic writing could be for a teenage girl in transition. In high school my creative writing classes pushed me to explore my ability to produce short stories about the world around me. And in college, I realized the power of my words on paper as a means to definitively expressing myself as a woman on a predominately white campus. My studies in sociology have allowed me to regard life as an intricate layer of experiences that influence the transfer of energy amongst people. My professional work in human resources provide me a platform to connect the dots between people and vision. My life, in essence, becomes the muse for everything that I create.
I have learned to value of character, integrity, loyalty and love (the action word) above all else. My hope has always been that my work will find a way to touch others. I continue to make peace with this objective.
After years of blogging and ghost writing (hiding behind a curtain of artistic recognition) – I finally decided to publish a poem book in 2014 when I read a sign that said: “If God gives you a talent, you need to use it.”
“SundayKindaLuv” consists of short poems which are based on different life experiences that I have been through. The ugly, the bad and finally the good. The work is an official unveiling of my vulnerability as a writer where I allowed myself to use my poems to describe real emotions, and real situations, and honest transparency. Who I am as a woman was birthed between the pages of trial and error and lots of prayers to Jesus. I am so very proud of what I accomplished with this project .
I am currently working on a fiction novel, “If I Should Die Before I Wake” that is sure to be the greatest thing I have ever birthed from my pen.
I consider myself a poet, a writer and an entrepreneur.
But first and foremost, I am a mother to amazing babies who inspire me daily.
